The Margret Thatcher situation

Postby Northern_Union » Sun Apr 14, 2013 4:18 pm

Whats your thoughts on the parties and celebrations that the Iron Lady is dead? Coming from a working class background i understand the hate directed at her by the minors, the families of the minors and the communities they came from, and lets be honest here the mine closures effected rugby league badly in the UK. I can also understand the families and men that fought the Faulklins conflict when they say they went to war because Thatcher was behind in the polls.
All that said i dislike the ugly side of humanity we are seeing in the UK. A woman has died. And have to believe for the most part she got into politics to better her people.

Pretty much word for word I would agree with what you have said NU. This nonsense of the wicked witch is dead song rocketing up the pommie music chart is a disgrace.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing in the news tonight. Very bad taste, watching how some people behave like that. No respect at all.

I think it's a measure of where society in general is at. It's actually disturbing when you analise the morals involved in the decision to celebrate someones death.

A piece of graffiti seen in Northern Ireland recently said "Iron Lady, Rust In Peace".

Where ever you stand, see certainly believed in what see was doing.

I find it a disgrace - whatever your politics. These people give their lives for their country - whether we agree with them or not. You only need to look at before and after pics of our PMs.

She saw out the cold war and the wall down. She also helped set the scene for a current day UK that is not in the mess that many parts of Europe are. Not solely but certainly helped.

She also kept the Falklands ... ;)

Grubs that creep out and celebrate generally do nothing for their country - except tell us whats wrong.

She was a hard person - but maybe we needed that at that time ?

I have a sneaking suspicion that the crowd celebrating her death are mostly the same people that yell at people to jump when they are on the roofs thinking about suicide and the same people that troll internet sites looking to insight trouble.
Nice use of an ellipses before your ;) by the way :D
