Brisbane Broncos utility Alex Glenn has expressed a desire to one day captain his country just days out from making his sixth Test appearance for New Zealand.

His fierce presence on the field demands respect while his humble attitude off the park earns it from his peers.

At 24 the Crestmead resident is already vicecaptain of the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL and will line up for New Zealand in the Test tonight at Canberra Stadium.

‘‘My goal is to captain my country,’’ Glenn said.

‘‘ I still have a lot of learning to do and so far from what I have achieved in my career I’m really happy.

Glenn said being made vice-captain of Brisbane has helped bolster his already booming career.

‘‘I followed the Broncos growing up and blokes like Steve Renouf who was my idol so to be able to play with them and the boys in the team is a huge honour,’’ Glenn said.

‘‘ Being vice- captain is something which is very special to me and I just want to do everything I can to help the club achieve.’’

Glenn said he wasn’t nervous leading into the announcement of the Test side.

‘‘It isn’t really a different atmosphere, I just focus on club footy and if I’m doing the job right I’m giving myself the opportunity,’’ Glenn said.

‘‘I don’t think too much about making the side and don’t put too much pressure on myself. I focus on my job and if I get the opportunity then it is a bonus.’’

Good player, Alex Glenn. If he keeps going the way he is atm, I wouldn't at all be surprised if one day he gets his wish.

Glenn has been one of the donkeys best for a while now. When you see him interviewed he also comes across as a hell of a nice guy.
