Easts Tigers teenager Michael Kai doesn't know much about David "Coaltrain" Taylor and doesn't care who he is - he just wants to stop him.

The 19-year-old will earn his first Intrust Super Cup call-up on Sunday where he will be charged with stopping the exiled Gold Coast Titan who will line up for Tweed Heads.

Taylor has been named for the Seagulls after copping an enforced two week lay-off from the NRL by Titans coach John Cartwright for breaching team rules on April 9.

This time last year the 122kg frame of Taylor was ripping into New Zealand bodies with his damaging edge running in the ANZAC test.

On Sunday, he will aiming to terrorise the 100kg teenager on debut in what on paper looks to be a horrible mis-match - which doesn't frighten Kai one bit.

"The scary thing is he doesn’t care who Dave Taylor is and I like that attitude," Easts coach Craig Ingebrigtsen said.

"When Taylor was named it sent shivers down my spine to be honest.

"I'm going to worry every time he has the ball in his hands ... but we wouldn't put (Kai) there if we didn't have faith in him."

The former Wests Tigers under-20s centre has been electric this year, scoring three tries in Easts' FOGS Colts side two weeks ago and another try when elevated to FOGS last week.

Now Ingebrigsten is calling for him to announce himself at ISC level with a strong effort against Taylor.

"Any young player who has an aspiration to play in the NRL has to stand up when they get an opportunity to match up against a player who last year was representing Australia,'' he said.

Kai is one of four players who will debut in the Tigers's first home game of the season with Hughie Stanley to replace Corey Thompson who was snapped up by the Bulldogs in the NRL last week on a two year deal.

FOGS Cup grand final hero from last season Liam Tyson will make his first grade debut while off season signing Adam Marr has been named to start at prop.

Kick off is at 2pm and the game will be televised on Channel Nine.

Taylor will probably resort to his pushing of the marker and other nonsense that he always did in the past when playing Queensland Cup.

Obviously has always thought it was a bit below him once he got a reputation at a young age.

The players who have just put their heads down and played well when put back from the NRL are the ones who eventually do well.

Those like Taylor and a few others who appear resentful at having to play Queensland Cup usually have checkered careers.

That happens a lot in all sports when a good play goes through a tough patch and is dropped to a lower grade, they often don't aim up.

Hopefully young Kai will think of Taylor as just another player and sit the big fella on his arse.
