Early season thoughts :

The NRL looks to be living up to it's tag as the most unpredictable , even competition in sport.

Any team can win any given game , nothing illustrated that better than the the Rabittohs loss to the Tigers , just as surprising St George are sitting at the top of the table.

Top upsets this year

1) Tigers beat Rabittohs

2) Warriors beat North Queensland in Townsville

3) Eels go close to beating Manly after being thumped by the Roosters ( a loss like that qualifies as an upset imo ).

The Warriors face the angry Sharks this weekend in what many expect to be a Banana skin game for our lot. It's interesting that the Warriors face their best chance to play for a top eight spot since......since the last time they played the same team ( 2013 at Mt Smart ).

If the Warriors go four from six....they will have pulled off the best start to a season in too long to remember.

The return of Hurrell has seen the Tomkins predictions come to fruition , a right edge of a simplified role for Johnson ( quick ball to Tomkins ) even faster ball to Hurrell ( the crazy tip ons Sam does ) promises to launch Hurrell and Fis'iahi into a race for NRL top try scorer.
Tomkins has struggled with the fundamentals of the fullback role at NRL level. I'm not concerned by that at all, he is making errors he has never made before , all part of the learning curve for Sam....used along side Hurrell as a standoff playing up in the line he is the best half we've seen since the little General.

It will come together for Sam. When it does people will be in awe.
