The Dayboro Footy Club was formed in late 1984 and started with 3 junior teams in 1985. The clubs first permanent structures were two galvanised iron sheds, one for the canteen and one for the sale of alcohol.

The original clubhouse was built in 1986 in preparation for the 1987 season. At this stage we had demountable toilets and no dressing sheds.

It was in 1987 that the club won its first Premiership when the Under 16’s won their Grand Final.

In 1988 the club fielded its first senior team. They finished fourth that season.

In 1991 the lights were erected on the oval. This allowed us to train at night on our field instead of using the old floodlit paddock next to the Bowls Club in Butlers flats.

In 1993 our U-13’s went through the season undefeated winning the Presidents Flag and the Premiership.

In 1995 we had an U21’s as well as an Open side.

The Opens won the Chairman’s trophy for the first time in 1996 and also made it to the Grand Final that year. Work started late in 1996 on the dressing sheds and toilets and they were ready for use in 1997.

1998 was a mixed year for the club. Sadly we lost one of the most respected and well-liked players when Mally Williams was killed in a car accident. The opens team made it to the Preliminary final but lost to Pine Rivers. We also had an U-20’s team that year. Our juniors however were more successful with both the U11’s & U12’s winning their Presidents Flags and Premierships.

In 1999 the U-12’s won their Grand Final.

2000 saw our Open side win the Northside 1 Premiership giving us our first senior Premiership. Our U-16’s also went through that year undefeated after demolishing every team in the comp.

2001 saw the biggest change to our club when the clubhouse as it stands today was completed after a lot of hard work by our committee and members. The opportunity to become Clubhouse Foundation members was enthusiastically greeted by many. The money raised by the Foundation Memberships along with considerable help from a supportive Pine Shire Council helped build our great modern facility.

2002 saw two more Premierships when our Open’s won the Brisbane wide Second Division competition and our U-11’s won their premiership.

2003 saw our U-11’s and Open’s making it into the preliminary Finals. The Open’s were still in a Brisbane wide comp.

2004 and another Northside 1 Premiership was won. This was a very satisfying victory for the club as we were seeing the majority of players had come up through the Juniors. What we thought would probably be a rebuilding year, given the retirement of a few more senior players, turned out anything but. The U-11’s were Minor Premier’s and contested the Premiership while the U-12’s made the Semis.

2005 saw our U-11’s winning the President’s Flag and the U-11’s and the U13’s both making it into their respective Grand Finals. This year also saw the Open’s breaking the two year cycle and winning another Northside 1 Premiership in what could only be described as one of the best games of footy you will see.

2006 and our U14’s won their Chairman’s Trophy, were Minor Premiers and won the Premiership. The U11’s made it to the Preliminary Final. The U7’s joined forces and fielded a team of 14 players to take out the ALP Shield with great pride. The Opens won the Ted Beaumont Trophy and the Grand Final. This made 3 Premierships in succession and this team is arguably the most successful team in 2nd division history.

2007 and only 1 junior team made it to the Semi’s with the U-12’s being knocked out in the Preliminary Final. A huge effort given they required several U-11 players each week. The Open’s after winning the Earl McDonald/Jack Lawson Shield made a slow start to the season and came from 4th. to win another Grand Final making it 4 consecutive wins. The 2006 comments about this team being the most successful 2nd. Div team ever, are even more relevant. It was also a big year for the player’s partners producing 11 new Cowgirls and Cowboys. A whole U-7 team for 2013!

2009 saw another Pine Rivers Shire Cup, the Earl McDonald/Jack Lawson Memorial Shield, Chairman’s Trophy and Premiership for the Open team.

The club has had 3 players play in the N.R.L. Trent Leis - N.Q. Cowboys. Marty McKenzie - Parramatta. Brendan Rouse - Sydney Roosters.

Christian Lions are a fairly religious based club, this is only their second season in the comp.Pine Central Holy Spirit aren't really associated with the church. Yes the Brisbane Natives consist of aboriginal players.

Where exactly is Dayboro H ?

I'm about to become a Qbillie - so will need to know these things. My local team will be the Warraguls - work that out.

They haven't won too many I gather - BUT have a player in the current Broncs team.

Warraguls sounds like a cross between the Warriors and Sea Eagles. Perfection in one word! haha

Sounds like SJ will be moving to Bribie Island. The Warrigals are currently the feeder team for the Sunshine Coast Eagles. Despite this they are struggling to win games! Dayboro is a small quiet country town in the sticks far from civilization!
